Eligibility and Requirements

Order online and receive a virtual card (all you need).

All full-time students at accredited primary or high schools, colleges and universities are eligible for an ISIC. When applying please provide ONE of the following documents:

A copy of your university or student identity card, clearly dated and indicating you are a full time student. Needs to be valid and show validity date.

A signed and dated letter on official university or school stationery stating you are studying there full time. We prefer an original copy, although photocopies and faxes may be accepted.

The card is valid for 12 months from the date of ordering the card. The card ordered on 3.1.2022 is valid until 2.1.2023. You can buy this card at any time during the current academic year, while on the day of purchasing the card, the applicant for the card must be a student/full-time pupil at HEI/SECONDARY / PRIMARY SCHOOL – a certificate of admission is not sufficient, it is necessary to show a certificate of enrolment/study.

ISIC stands for International Student Identity Card. It’s the only globally recognized student ID card, valid in nearly 114 countries, ensuring your student status is acknowledged wherever you travel. With an ISIC, you gain access to over 150,000 exclusive student savings!

When applying for an ISIC, students upload a copy of their official full-time student status. This is verified alongside their identification to confirm their registered full-time student status.

The ISIC, IYTC, and ITIC cards are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

The ISIC is issued as a virtual card. After placing an order, the ISIC team will verify your student status. Once verified, you will receive an email with instructions on how to activate your virtual ISIC.

Yes! The ISIC is available for any student. It’s called an International Student Identity Card because you can use it globally.

A card order typically takes up to 2 business days to process. Once an application is received, the ISIC team must review the application, including student status and identity documents. Once the application is approved by the ISIC team, an email is immediately sent with instructions to activate the virtual card and serial number.

The ISIC server is located in the European Union (EU). ISIC South Africa maintains the highest level of data protection and security of all cardholders. As our server is located in the EU, ISIC South Africa also maintains, along with the ISIC Association, strict adherence to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Protection of Personal Information (POPIA). All uploaded identity documents, such as proof of student status and identity confirmation documents, are automatically deleted from the ISIC server within a few days of application processing. Your name, email address, and phone number will only be stored for marketing purposes and relevant updates on discounts, etc. More information on GDPR can be found at gdpr.eu and on our privacy policy page.

The ISIC has been made easily available online. Select the card you wish to obtain above and complete the easy application. Cards are not available for in-person issuing or pickup unless through a partnered University or College.

If your card is expiring soon or has expired, you must apply for a new card using the new application form. A new application is required as we require your proof of student status.

  • There is a problem with your account.
  • You are using an ISIC profile that is not accepted.
